6″ Mountain Man Red Fox Cap Original Design Cottonwood Wood Carving Santa

This listing offers a 6″ Mountain Man RED FOX Cap Original Design Cottonwood Wood Carving Santa. This one-of-a-kind wood carving features an Original Design of mine. It measures 6″ high by 2-1/2″ wide. I hand-carved it from a half-round piece of cottonwood root, gathered along the banks of the nearby Verde River in northern Arizona. NOTE: The first scan shows the finished carving beside an image of the carving after it has been carved and wood-burned, but before painting. After hand-carving the mountain man (or Santa) and his Red Fox cap, I used a woodburner to detail the lines in the mountain man’s face, beard, moustache, and eyebrows, as well as the Fox “Fur” Hat (which includes a big-eyed Red Fox with pointy ears at the front, and a long tail hanging down beside the mountain man’s face). I then painted the carving with acrylics. The completed carving has been sealed with a coat of MIN-WAX Semi-Gloss Finish. My name and the year (2012) have been woodburned onto the back. This is a brand new carving. I had a lot of fun designing, carving, woodburning and painting him.NOTE: Cottonwood root tends to feel rough to the touch, even after sanding and painting … because the grain of the wood tends to “plump up” once you put something wet onto it (like paint or sealer). Original Wood Spirit Carving Man Gnome Tree Elf Wood Ca Decor Rustic By Suzy

“Milo”

This is an original one-of-a-kind wood carving created from a piece of oak driftwood. The carving measures approximately 4 inches wide by 8 inches tall, it is dated 1-27-12, numbered 005, and signed by the artist. Included is a card (shown in the photo) which tells a little about the artist (thats me! Suzy) and care instructions for the carving. This carving hangs on the wall to the sideways…the left side of his face is towards the wall.

All of my carvings are original one-of-a-kind works of art, they each have their own personality. I put alot of time and thought into each one. I have been an artist for over 34 years, and carving is by far my favorite craft. I can’t wait to see who will emerge from the next piece of wood!
